Campaign season is now upon us – hayy! The SS12 collections have already made their way into the glossies (see Nyasha in “Always a Woman”, serving a heavy scoop of Vuitton for Vogue‘s new year-opening issue, at end of page (eek, it’s happened! - see why I shriek)), and likewise will their accompanying campaigns. Louis Vuitton helps open the season with a very campy and whimsical campaign set in an ice cream parlour. Continuing with the fresh-faced momentum from last season, Vuitton cast 27 year old German newcomer Kati Nescher (left), who walked 29 shows this season, including LV, Givenchy, Prada, and Miu Miu, and was ranked #6 on Style.com/Print‘s “Top 10 Newcomers” list. Opposite Nescher, and platinum blonder than ever (I like), Daria Strokous, who’s no stranger to blue-chip campaigns, being a Jil Sander regular and all, completes the cast.

Lensed, again, by the great Steven Meisel (sidenote: – I’ve never actually seen a photo of him…), the mood this season is a complete 180 degrees from the stark, fetishitic, late night concierge, boudoir-feel of Fall 2011. I would imagine the story continues on from the runway show, which set the tone; after spending a magical day riding the carrousel, dressed in their springtime best, and enjoying their youth, the young ladies decide to stop by the ice cream parlour for sweet tooth satisfaction and some well-needed girl talk. The melt-in-your-mouth pastel hues that ran rampant throughout the collection are well represented by the bubblebgum pink overdose, and complimenting ice cream sundaes. Even the metallic table bases give a nod to the same finish on the mules. Super playful, super pretty, super youthful, super chic, super feminine, and super sweet; what’s not to love? Vuitton kicks off the campaign season on a (sugar) high note. There’s more tasty goodness to come as the full campaign comes out *salivates*.

MY GIRL IS FINALLY A VOGUETTE! Someone please forward me her PIN so I can congratulate her via BBM. 14-page story shot by David Sims and styled by Grace Coddington. Click here for full story.
