Coupled with the windchill, temps in Winnipeg have dropped this week to below 20°C (if you don’t know, that’s really cold) and it’s only going downhill. Queue Topman‘s recent collaboration with British luxury knitwear designer James Long. The capsule collection of quirky jumpers and cardigan is available now online and soon to hit select Topman stores in Canada (The Queen St. store in Toronto is expected to receive within the next couple of weeks, hopefully while I’m in town). I’m leaning towards thehoneycomb jumper or the textured jumper. The textured has a Céline-esque feel to it with the two-tone colour block and fuzzy texture on the front, but the honeycomb looks better on the model in the campaign (see below). Hopefully they’ll arrive to Toronto stores in time for my visit – I prefer to try things on. Whether or not you do, check out the collection readily available on Topman’s online shop. Run, don’t walk.
None of the VersacexH&M pieces made it into my closet as hideous, tickity garb is not welcome within those confines. This beautifully simple two-tone leather shopper from the Marni for H&M men’s collection, released on Thursday March 8th in Canada, will surely be joining the ranks (if my main #T @andrewcoimbra has time to cop one for me). Considering it’s made of real leather, the 79,99EU (approx. $104CAN) price tag is apropos and very doable. My current sac has adopted frayed edges and faded colour which is cramping my style [yeah, I said it], aka time for this #chictothenextlev replacement.
The rest of the men’s collection didn’t really speak to me, apart from this lovely two-tone tie (what’s with me and two-toned accessories?) which I may throw into my basket as well.
The Givenchyrottweiler t-shirt of Fall 2011 reached accredited tumblr fame (yes, I said it) and solidified itself as the piece to have/wear/get snapped by every street style photographer alive. Not only could you only find it on eBay selling for approx. double it’s original retail value, not long after hitting the shelves of both online and brick+mortar retailers, but it sprung a new wave of “the unmistakable luxury t-shirt”. The combination of a lower/accessible price point (compared to the rest of the collection(s)) and design that evokes the tone/feel of the collection and/or brand, makes it a winner ($). I took to one of my favourite/the few great online menswear retailers, Mr. Porter, to find the next crop of covetablet-shirts we speak of for the season (click a below to find out more + shop). Personally, I’ve got my eye on the ‘Ankara’ print Burberry Prorsum from SS12 (top right) – mouse off.
Spring is in the air, in the sale section, at least. Yours truly has perused the extensive inventory of heavily-slashed prices on mytheresa.com to find the best floral printed pieces of seasons past, at a serious fraction of the cost. Dries Van Noten SS11 pumps for under $350? Ladies, you’re welcome.
There’s way more where that came from. Visit mytheresa.com to verify that I’m not bluffing (There’s Proenza Schouler for $200 and less – right?).
Made famous by the uber popular tumblelog, Sexy-Sweaters, I can’t help but want to wear a super sexy sweater myself, now that it’s snow white outside and my bare arms are insisting they be covered. The duo behind the colourful tumblr blog, Alec and Greta, are bombarded with the same question multiple times per minute: “where can I buy a sweater?“, to which they’ve answered in their FAQ: “you can’t yet! we hope to start selling some of these in the future, but nothing’s been decided yet.” – lame. Until that glorious day arrives, we look abroad to our favourite brands for sweaters that are sexy. TOPMAN to the rescue (queue music)! Their FW11 collection, sold online at The Bay, has a few sexy options to get you through these frigid months. If you’re a hipster, well, consider this a year-round investment. My eyes are zeroing in on the oh-so-classy Country Mickey Mouse. Not only is it on trend (check D&G FW11), but I owe my life to Mickey Mouse, which we’ll discuss another time never. My twitter friend @SergioKletnoy would covet the throwback MTV logo version as he’s a music liver, aka recommending. With that said, click a sweater and go get sexy.
